PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Metacaulk Cover Guard is a 1-piece fire-rated gasket for meeting the “24-in rule” in electrical boxes. When exposed to heat, intumescent material expands/ forms a char to seal opening, prevent flame spread, and limit heat transfer to unexposed area. Mounted on inside of cover plate and installed simultaneously; covers the opening and provides fire protection. Applied by hand and saves space in the electrical box. Cover Guard fire-rated gaskets are cost effective and save time and money when needing to install fire sealant to electrical applications. Cover Guard Fire Sealant gasket; use when electrical boxes are installed in rated walls facing opposite directions and horizontally separated by less than 24″. Can also be used as a solution for standard electrical boxes when the 100 square inch rule is violated.
