Description

This old medallion was made in England for propaganda against Germany following the sinking of RMS Lusitania (Cunard Liner) by German U-boat U20. Of the 2100 passengers on board 1201 perished. Germany had a medallist named Karl Goetz who made a medal as propaganda as the ship was mainly a passenger ship the British allowed to sail knowing submarines were around. Though he made the medal with the wrong date 5th May 1915. The British then turned this into their own propaganda medal / medallion with the correct date, saying the sinking of the Lusitania was pre-planned, they copied Goetz medal with the correct date added in.
